'L'Aia dei Cappellani' is located on the outskirts of Trecchina, a small mountain village, a short distance from the coast at Maratea in Basilicata. Surrounded by ancient chestnut woodland and renowned for its ironwork, ceramics and gastronomy, this pretty, medieval village is well worth a visit.

Set in this beautiful environment, the agriturismo 'L'Aia dei Cappellani' provides fresh, traditional cuisine, at reasonable prices, in a friendly, family atmosphere. The name, 'L'Aia dei Cappellani' is full of local history. The 'Aia', a circular, stone area traditionally used for threshing grain, has been lovingly restored and preserved and is an attractive feature of the agriturismo. The other part of the name dates back to the family's great grandfather who was named 'Cappellano' or 'Chaplain' after donating an old building for a chapel. The family has kept the name ever since.

At the heart of the agriturismo is the restaurant, sympathetically converted from an old farmhouse and featuring a lovely beamed ceiling and covered outside eating area. Within the grounds, a series of attractive, purpose built cottages provide pleasant and comfortable accommodation for families. Guests can also enjoy horse riding facilities including a stables and sand school complex and trekking on horseback through the stunningly beautiful countryside of the nearby Tyrrhenian coast, Monte Sirino and the Pollino National Park.
